In the background are two volcanoes.  The tall one on the right is dormant.  The smaller one on the left is still active.   I really enjoyed …

Rainy days and Mondays don’t have to get you down

It was a rainy kind of dismal weather day, yet it was still possible to create stunning landscape photographs

Yesterday it was really stormy and wet, today the skies were dark and there was periodic rain.  This did not stop Evan, Claire, and I from going on the road to Hana and create landscape photographs.  We did get rained out of some of the places I would have otherwise gone, but this created …

Maui Reflections

Adding a reflection to your composition ads interest

Looking for reflections and using them in part of a photographic composition is a fun exercise and encourages photographers to get out their comfort zone and get really low or really high and look.  FInding the reflections is one thing.  Framing them in an interesting composition is another.  It could be you make the image …

Turkey Fish_main

Many photographers dive into underwater photography with a lot of enthusiasm but end up discouraged because the images made did not meet expectations. The bottom line is that many elements have to come together in order to create good images underwater. Understanding what works and more importantly what does not, takes time. The good news …
